Queens College Action Now
This year-long service learning program brings together students from Queens high schools to identify issues of concern in their community, then design and implement service projects to address those issues. Read students' blogs and see photos of group volunteer projects from the 2007-08 program.
Queens College Summer Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences
The Queens College Summer Institute focuses on how the arts and society merge and interact. In this short video, students discuss their experiences in the dance workshop portion of the 2007 Institute.
Lehman College Communications 218
The Communications 218 journalism workshop is offered during Lehman's College Now summer program. Students write articles about issues and events related to the program, Lehman, and the neighborhood. Articles from the 2007 course were published daily on this blog.
Lehman College Summer Arts Academy
High school juniors and seniors choose to study digital production, digital imaging, theater, stagecraft, or journalism, then collaborate on a multi-media final project. This site showcases the work of students who participated in the program during the summer of 2007.
BMCC Video Arts & Technology (VAT) Program
Students get hands-on experience in every facet of video production, from writing the script to editing the final cut. Learn more and watch an excerpt from a student's documentary.
Hostos College Now Poets
Fifteen students at Hostos-Lincoln Academy of Science gathered weekly in 2006 to explore the craft of poetry through reading, analyzing, discussing, and writing poems. Read their poetry and find out more about the course.
Brooklyn College Digital Video Production
In 2003, the Brooklyn College Film Department began offering workshops in digital video production at several Brooklyn public high schools. See samples of the students' films and much more.
